What Monadnock Region Customers Should Know

The Monadnock Region has an older housing stock than most of New Hampshire and a lot of it sits at the end of a dirt road. Those two facts drive most of the storage work we do out of our Troy site: renovation projects on houses built long before anyone thought about closet space, and access that needs planning before a truck shows up.

Renovating an old house means emptying it first

Farmhouses and village homes across Cheshire County and western Hillsborough County tend to get renovated a room or a floor at a time, and the work is rarely clean. Plaster, old wiring, refinishing floors that have not been touched in decades: all of it goes better when the room is genuinely empty rather than shuffled into the next room. A container in the driveway is the difference between doing that once and doing it four times.

It also solves the storage problem these houses create on their own. If you are living in a house with two small closets and no garage, a 16ft container on the property during a project is not a luxury, it is the only flat surface you have.

Dirt roads and mud season

From roughly mid-March through April, frost coming out of the ground softens back roads across the region and many towns post weight limits that a loaded truck cannot ignore. If your timeline is flexible, May is by far the easiest month to place a container on a gravel drive. If it is not flexible, tell us the road and the surface when you book and we will tell you honestly what is possible.

The same conversation applies to the approach itself. Stone walls close to the drive, a steep pitch off Route 9 or Route 12, a low branch, a narrow bridge or culvert. The LeveLift system sets the container down flat instead of tilting it off the truck, so we need less run-out room than you might expect, but knowing the constraint beforehand is what keeps delivery day boring.

Estate work and downsizing

A significant share of our Monadnock work is estate-related: a family house that has been in one family for generations, contents that need sorting rather than discarding, and heirs who live out of state and have a long weekend to work with. A container on site lets you separate the keep pile from the sort-later pile without renting a truck or booking a facility across the county. Take what needs to go, leave the rest packed, and deal with it on the next trip.

Small business and downtown storage

Keene, Peterborough and Jaffrey all have small-business districts where the retail or restaurant space is priced too high to use as a stockroom and there is no back-of-house to speak of. A container behind the building holds seasonal inventory, patio furniture, event equipment or records without paying storefront rates for square footage. The Keene State calendar

Move-in and move-out weeks at Keene State reshape traffic and parking around the campus twice a year. If you are moving in the neighborhoods near campus in late August or mid-May, plan around those dates rather than into them. Local dispatch from Troy

We run a Troy site that puts Keene, Jaffrey, Rindge, Swanzey, Winchester and Hinsdale inside a short run, with Tilton as the main facility to the northeast.
