What Merrimack Valley Customers Should Know

The Merrimack Valley is the busiest part of our territory and the one where timing is tightest. Concord, Manchester, Nashua, Bedford, Bow, Hooksett, Goffstown and the towns along the I-93 and Route 3 corridor move a lot of households, and they move them on schedules set by closings, job start dates and school calendars rather than by weather.

The gap between closings

In a market that moves this quickly, the most common problem is not space. It is a two-week to two-month gap between selling one house and getting the keys to the next. The usual fallback is a rental truck and a storage unit, which means handling everything four times: house to truck, truck to unit, unit to truck, truck to house. A container collapses that to two. Job relocations set the calendar

Concord runs on state government, Concord Hospital and the surrounding professional employers; Manchester and Nashua on healthcare, manufacturing and a large commuter population working south into Massachusetts. Those employers have fixed start dates, which is why late spring and late summer are the two peaks here. If your move lands in June, July or August, book two to three weeks ahead. Those are the weeks that fill first.

Placement in dense neighborhoods

This is the one real constraint in the Valley. A single-family driveway in Bedford or Bow takes a container without any thought. A triple-decker street in a Manchester ward, a Nashua neighborhood with permit parking, or a condo association with rules about what can sit in a shared lot is a different conversation.

Two things help. First, check with your association or your city before delivery day rather than after, because a placement that needs a permit is usually easy to arrange with notice and impossible to arrange same-day. Second, if the property genuinely will not take a container, the answer is often a short placement timed to a single loading day rather than a long stay. Winter street parking and snow

Manchester, Concord and Nashua all have winter parking rules and plowing operations that a stationary container can complicate. If yours is staying put through the winter, put it fully on your own property, clear of the sidewalk and clear of where the plow pushes. In a shared lot, that placement is worth agreeing with whoever manages the property before the first storm rather than during it.

Business overflow along Route 3

The commercial corridor between Nashua and Concord generates steady demand for month-to-month overflow: retail seasonal inventory, contractor materials staged near a job, records that cannot go off site, restaurant equipment during a remodel.
