On Saturday, September 19, Schouler Park in North Conway filled up with dogs, food trucks and a dock-diving pool for the Conway Area Humane Society’s Bark in the Park. MI-BOX of New Hampshire donated the use of a container for it, and the way that worked is worth explaining, because it is a fair demonstration of what these things are actually good at.

What We Actually Did

Three legs, not one.

  1. The container lived at the shelter first. We dropped it at the Conway Area Humane Society so their team could load it up with everything the event needed, on their own schedule, over however long it took.
  2. We moved it loaded to Schouler Park. On event day the whole thing travelled into the park with the contents already inside. Nothing was packed twice.
  3. We moved it back afterwards. Once the day wrapped up, the container went back to the shelter so they could unload at their own pace rather than at the end of a long Saturday.
The part that matters: a volunteer-run event usually means loading a pile of vehicles on Friday, unloading them Saturday morning, then doing the whole thing in reverse that night. Here the load happened once, days early, in a quiet parking lot.

What Bark in the Park Is

It is the Conway Area Humane Society’s community fundraiser, and it is a proper day out rather than a table with a donation bucket. The Honor Walk stepped off at 10 AM, a tradition where people walk in memory of or alongside a pet. Around that there were DockDogs competitions, live music, local vendors, food trucks and contests for best bark and best tail.

The money goes to food, shelter and medical care for animals at the shelter waiting on a home. You can still support it at conwayhumane.org/bark.

Talk to Us

Why We Said Yes

We deliver across the Mount Washington Valley anyway, so a container sitting at the shelter for a couple of weeks costs us very little and saved their volunteers a genuinely miserable weekend of hauling. That is about the best trade a local business can make.

It also happens to be the clearest demonstration of the product we could ask for. The value was never the steel box. It was that nobody had to touch the contents twice.

Where We Deliver

MI-BOX delivers portable storage containers across Central, Southern, and Western New Hampshire, including the Mount Washington Valley. Nearby towns: Conway, North Conway, Bartlett, Jackson, Madison and Tamworth. See the whole White Mountains region.
