This Thursday evening, one of the hardest-working youth nonprofits in southern New Hampshire takes center stage. The Nashua PAL Night of Champions Gala lands on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua, and MI-BOX of New Hampshire is proud to be among the local businesses backing it. We made a donation to this year’s event, and our owner will be there in person to help celebrate the kids and coaches who make the program what it is.
A Night That Celebrates Nashua’s Young Champions
The Night of Champions is Nashua PAL’s signature fundraiser, presented each fall by the Nashua Police Patrolman’s Association. It is less a stuffy black-tie affair and more a room full of people who genuinely care about local kids. Over the course of the evening, the organization recognizes standout youth from across its sports and afterschool programs, along with the adults who give their time to make it all run.
- Outstanding youth are honored from each PAL sports and afterschool program.
- A Coach of the Year is recognized for going above and beyond for PAL kids.
- A PAL of the Year award goes to a standout member of the community.
- Every dollar raised flows directly back into programming for Nashua-area youth.
Who the Nashua PAL Actually Serves
Nashua PAL — the Police Athletic League — has been a fixture in the city since it was founded in 1989. Its mission is simple and powerful: build positive relationships between Nashua’s young people and the officers who serve their community, through sports, recreation, leadership, and education. What started as a handful of programs now reaches more than 2,000 youth across southern New Hampshire through roughly sixteen different offerings.
Much of that work happens at the PAL Youth Safe Haven on Ash Street, where the organization provides free afterschool and summer care to more than 250 kids. For a lot of working Nashua families, that is not a nice-to-have — it is the difference between a safe, structured afternoon and no good option at all. That is exactly the kind of local impact that makes an event worth showing up for.
The programs themselves run the full range of what keeps kids engaged and growing. There are athletics and sports leagues, structured afterschool care, summer programming, and enrichment and leadership activities designed to build confidence and teamwork. The common thread is mentorship: trusted adults, including Nashua police officers, showing up consistently for young people who benefit from that steadiness. For many of these kids, PAL is where they first learn that someone in the community is in their corner.
What Your Support Makes Possible
Because the Night of Champions is PAL’s main fundraiser, the evening does more than hand out awards — it funds the year ahead. Dollars raised at Sky Meadow translate into practical, visible things across Nashua and the surrounding towns.
- Free afterschool and summer care for the hundreds of kids who count on the Safe Haven.
- Equipment, uniforms, and field time for sports leagues that would otherwise cost families money they may not have.
- Enrichment and leadership programming that keeps older kids involved and looking ahead.
- The staff and mentors who make every one of those programs actually happen.
When an organization keeps its overhead low and pours the proceeds straight back into kids, a single good night of fundraising stretches a long way. That efficiency is a big part of why local businesses keep coming back to support it.
Why MI-BOX Backs Local Causes
We are a New Hampshire company with New Hampshire dispatch, and the communities we deliver containers to every week are the same ones these programs serve. Supporting the Night of Champions is part of a pattern we try to keep up all year. We donated a container to Bark in the Park, we sponsored the Mt. Sunapee Duck Drop, and now we are glad to add the Nashua PAL gala to the list. When a cause is doing real good close to home, we would rather be in the room than on the sidelines.
