• 16-foot container — a popular whole-home size, from $169/month.

What Fits in a Pod Rental

The most common question we get is whether one container is enough. A rough guide, based on what our drivers actually see loaded across New Hampshire:

• 8-foot — a studio or one-bedroom, a single room being renovated, a garage clear-out, or seasonal furniture. Roughly a small truckload.
• 16-foot — a two or three-bedroom house, the usual choice for a family move within New Hampshire.
• 20-foot — a larger home, a full basement and garage together, or a business clearing a unit. Also the size contractors pick for a long job.

Pod Rental vs a Self Storage Unit

A self storage unit is cheaper per square foot. A pod rental is cheaper once you count everything else, which is where most people get caught out:

• You load once. With a storage unit you load the truck, drive, unload into the unit, then repeat in reverse. With a container you handle your belongings twice instead of four times.
• No truck rental. No mileage, no fuel, no returning it by a deadline, no driving something you are not used to driving.
• It sits at your house. Pack a room a night over two weeks instead of cramming a weekend.
• No trips across town. Remembering something in a storage unit means a drive. In a container in your driveway it means walking outside.

Where a traditional storage unit still wins is long-term storage of a small amount, or when there is genuinely nowhere on the property to place a container. We will tell you honestly if that is your situation.

Where a Pod Rental Can Be Placed

Our LeveLift delivery system sets the container down level on pavement, gravel, grass or dirt, so a finished driveway is not a requirement. What we do need is a clear route in for the truck, reasonable overhead clearance away from low branches and wires, and a spot roughly the length of the container plus room to work.

Tight urban driveways in Manchester and Nashua, sloped lots around the lakes, and soft ground in early spring are the three things worth mentioning when you call. None of them are automatic no answers, but they change where we place the container. Some towns and condo associations also have their own rules on how long a container can sit in view, so it is worth a quick check with the town or the association first.
